Islamabad United is a Pakistani professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in Pakistan Super League. Team is based in Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan.Team was formed in 2015, as a result of the formation of the Pakistan Super League by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The franchise is owned by Leonine Global Investments through its sports entity, Leonine Global Sports. Team is currently captained by Pakistan’s most successful test captain Misbah-ul-Haq and coached by former Australian player Dean Jones while the former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram is the director of the team.

In 2015, the PCB announced that first inaugural season of Pakistan Super League will happen in February 2016.On 3 December 2015, the PCB unveiled the owners of five city-based franchises. The Islamabad franchise was sold to Leonine Global Investments (to its sports entity – Leonine Global Sports) for US$15 Million.Shane Watson is the Icon player of the team, who will act as a brand ambassador.Team name is Islamabad united, Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and word united shows the unity among the people of the nation.

Team logo was revealed on 21 December 2015 in a ceremony held at Polo Club in Islamabad. Logo features a lion and official signatures of the team. Team management said that the logo symbolizes courage, power and aggression.
